Who Are the League of Women Voters of Placer County?

Who We Are

We are women and men who are interested in understanding how the government works, how it impacts our lives and the lives of others, and who wish to be informed citizens and voters. Our members thrive on learning unbiased political information difficult to find elsewhere. Research information from National and State LWV as well as our own analysis gives us what we need to facilitate understanding in order to make clear and objective voting decisions. 

Monthly member meetings offer local professional guest speakers with public policy information that impacts Placer County residents in a format that allows direct questions from the audience. We are a group of people engaged in our communities and always welcoming new members.

What We Do

We explain ballot measures

  • We moderate candidate forums
  • We register voters
  • We work at polling places
  • We hold monthly meetings to provide information about current topics and issues.
  • We provide online information of interest to voters at local, state, and national levels.
On February 14, 2020, the League of Women Voters marked its 100th anniversary. Nearly 800 local and sate chapters honored this milestone. We continue to honor the sacrifices of the many women who fought hard and long to ensure that women have the same right as men in exercising their voting franchise. We also have many male members who are interested in being as effective in their knowledge of our government, how it works, and public policies as our female members.

What We Don't Do

The LWV never  supports candidates or parties at any level, local, state, or national. We always remain nonpartisan in order to maintain the highest level of integrity and lack of bias in our information and our actions. Our goal is to help citizens of our great country have the information they need to participate in their government in the most effective way.
